Lakewood Park Tennis Courts Grand Opening
The City of Lakewood will hold a Grand Opening Ceremony for the newly resurfaced tennis courts at Lakewood Park, 14532 Detroit Avenue, on November 8, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. (Rain Date: Nov 9th). The new courts are one of the several projects that have been completed as part of this year’s Parks Initiative. The Grand Opening will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a tennis exhibition featuring top ranked, local tennis players.
Lakewood Park now offers four newly resurfaced tennis courts (one can be used as a teaching court). The tennis courts feature a Flex Court® all-weather, low maintenance tennis surface which is designed with complete expansion and contraction to fit every climate condition. The surface is self draining, fast drying and leaves no standing water. You are able to play on the surface minutes after it stops raining. Flex Court® is much cooler than concrete or asphalt and has a 25-30 year life expectancy. This playing surface is engineered for maximum shock absorption and grip to reduce body fatigue and prevent against injuries.
The City was able to obtain this court surface at-cost thanks to Bill Dubusker, a Lakewood resident who sells Flex Court®. Bill generously offered to waive his commission fee to make this park improvement more affordable for the City. Lenny Weiss, another Lakewood resident, donated the net poles for the renovated tennis courts.

THE LAKEWOOD PUBLIC CINEMA--The Blues Brothers

“It’s 106 miles to Chicago. We got a full tank of gas—half a pack of cigarettes. It’s dark. And we’re wearing sunglasses.” This legendary comedy, starring Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi, is secretly one of the greatest big screen musicals of all time. Two outlaws on a mission from God revisit every form of American music in the course of putting their band back together, saving an orphanage and instigating the most ridiculously destructive car chase ever.

Nuts and Bolts of Trusts – November 11th
Trusts can be one of the most useful and cost-effective legal tools to help people maintain control over their assets during good health, illness and at death – without court costs or delays. Unfortunately, most people, including financial advisors, only think of trusts in terms of saving estate taxes. While this is one benefit of trusts, trusts can also provide many more protections such as shielding inheritances for beneficiaries with failed marriages, bad judgment, creditors, or special needs or those with business interests. This workshop gives an overview of how trusts work, the pros and cons and costs, when to consider using trusts and what should be included in the trust provisions. It covers the Trust Protections Spectrum and various asset protection options trusts can provide during the trust makers’ and beneficiaries’’ lifetimes.
