The Lakewood Historical Society 10th Biennial
“Come Home to Lakewood” House Tour
1:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Featuring six historically or architecturally significant homes throughout Lakewood. These timeless treasures are selectively chosen to not only showcase the houses’ significant features typical to Lakewood, but the striking personal touches that make a picture-perfect home. Private residences on this year’s tour include: an award-winning stucco Arts & Crafts with a formal French garden; a stately brick center hall colonial; a classic Greek Revival; a vernacular Victorian with Arts & Crafts elements; a southern-inspired cottage situated in a lush garden paradise; a sophisticated lakefront with spectacular views.
As always, the tour includes a stop at the restored Nicholson House. It is Lakewood’s oldest home and is maintained by the Lakewood Historical Society. Here you will be able to view the tour’s educational feature on Lakewood’s earliest settlers with help from Grant Elementary 2nd & 3rd grade students. The Society will have gift items and books available for purchase and a limited number of house tour tickets may be available the day of the tour for $20 each. The Nicholson House is located at 13335 Detroit Ave. and will have refreshments and restrooms available during tour hours.
Tour Tickets are again at a very low price of $15 each in advance. This biennial home & garden tour is highly anticipated by Northeast Ohioan’s from all over and the tour has been known to sell out. You can purchase tickets at Lakewood retail outlets: Beck Center for the Arts, Local Girl Gallery, Rozi’s Wine House, First Federal of Lakewood, Geiger’s Clothing & Sports, and the Oldest Stone House Museum. You may also visit www.lakewoodhistory.org or call 216-221-7343 for online purchases or more information about the tour.
Check out a 30 second video that is sure to get you excited about the tour at http://blip.tv/file/4035714. This video has been produced and sponsored by Cox Communications and can also be viewed on Cox cable on channel Cox45.
