Life After Cancer
6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
This three-part series addresses the needs of those who are finished with cancer treatment. Meet others who are adjusting to the “new normal” and discuss issues such as fear of recurrence, returning to work, changing relationships and long-term side effects of treatment. Participants are encouraged to attend all three sessions – 9/15, 9/22, 9/29. Advanced registration required.

At Lakewood Library in the Multipurpose Room
Topics that will be addressed at this meeting:
•The August 28, 2010 SWAT “event” at 1446 Mars Avenue
•How the City of Lakewood defines a “boarding house”
•The ordinances that “grandfathered-in” boarding houses in Lakewood
•What rights the residents of Mars and Arthur Avenues have in regard to the boarding house at 1446 Mars Avenue which houses 8 to 10 men
•How best to keep our street “family friendly”
-Between Detroit Avenue and Hilliard Avenue,
there are more than 45 children residing on
Mars Avenue
•What procedures ought to be followed to report nuisance issues and concerns on the street
At this meeting you will have the opportunity to meet:
•Tom Bullock, our Ward 2 Councilman
•Officer Angela Ortiz, our Ward 2 Safety officer
•Your neighbors from Mars Avenue and several from
Arthur Avenue
•A variety of other Lakewood residents
This is your opportunity to become educated about our street, educated about how to keep it the great family-friendly street that it is, and to ask questions.
If possible, please arrive a few minutes early so that we may start promptly at 7pm with a discussion with Tom Bullock.
The Lakewood Library Multipurpose Room is on the first floor of the library through the Children’s Department past the play area and to the left.
Please NO food or drink in the library.
