SHOLEM EGERT ANOUNCES HIS CANDIDACY FOR OCEAN COUNTY CLERK
Sholem Egert, 23, of Lakewood,NJ announced that he will be running as an independent cqandidate in the November 2nd Election for the position of Ocean County Clerk, which is a five year term.
The County Clerk is responsible for the administration of a broad range of services including the filing and recording of all documents affecting real estate ownership/transfer, the processing of U.S. Passport applications, assisting individuals who wish to become a Notary Public, the issuance of Identification Cards, the filing of
Business Trade Names, and the supervision of elections.
As a fresh voice in government Sholem is not a political insider and does not owe favors to anyone. He believes that our local
Government needs to be run with more transparency and reduce our tax burden. To that end, he will do whatever he can to control costs in the County clerk’s office.
His Republican opponent, Scott M. Colabella, has been in the County Clerk’s office for many years, and has done nothing to curb the past wasteful and reckless spending.
His Democratic opponent, Michelle Rosen was recently quoted saying, “…career politicians are so busy trying to stay office that they forget what they really are there for, to do their job ethically, honestly and properly.” Unfortunately, Mrs. Rosen has
been in politics for over 35 years.
Sholem was born and raised and currently resides with his wife Leah in the Township of Lakewood. In June Sholem had filed to run for the Lakewood Township Committee, but upon hearing of the promotion of Carl W. Block to the position of County Administrator, he felt that this was an excellent opportunity to help the taxpayers in a more immediate way.
As an NJ EMT whose main focus is to assist others in need, and as a recent U.S. Census Enumerator, he feels that he is working for the good of the people and serving his country as well. The position of the Ocean County Clerk is a natural progression, to be there and to assist others.
