Rummage Sale

The Church of the Ascension will hold our annual Rummage Sale on Thursday, October 23rd from 9 am - 4 pm and again on Friday, October 24th from 9 am - 12 pm. You will be able to find treasures of all kinds from clothing, furniture, kitchen items, knick-knacks and much, much more. There will also be a bake shop if you enjoy baked goods!

Chocolate Walk

The Downtown Lakewood Business Alliance’s Lakewood Chocolate Walk is a delectable and decadent evening all about chocolate! Participants visit a wide variety of shops and eateries that are Sweet Stops on the Chocolate Walk. Each Sweet Stop provides a unique chocolate treat.
Chocolate Walk tickets are $25 per person (250 available). The event starts at Lakewood Center North’s main lobby (14600 Detroit Ave.)where you pick up your map, bag & wrist band, and browse the raffle prizes. Buy raffle tickets at the beginning or the end of your walk, as the raffle baskets will reappear at the Grand Finale at First Federal of Lakewood. The Pre-Walk VIP Party will be held at Bacchanalia, 14717 Detroit, from 5:30 – 6:15pm. For $40, you get not only your Chocolate Walk ticket but a special opportunity to elevate your chocolate experience to a whole new level of bliss (Only 50 Available)! Bacchanalia will be concocting a special chocolate drink, as well as providing a choice appetizer. You’ll also get personalized check-in, a VIP name tag for the evening, and the opportunity to experience a special demo by Campbell’s Sweets.

Voices in the Dark Animal Rescue Presents: 2nd Annual Feral Cat Workshop

Did you know, two un-altered cats and their offspring can result in 420,000 cats in just 7 years?

In honor of National Feral Cat Day, Voices in the Dark Animal Rescue is partnering with the Animal Protective League, PetFix Northeast Ohio and VIP Pet Care to present their 2nd Annual Feral Cat Workshop.

The workshop is free and will educate the community on how to humanely control the outdoor cat population.

Topics will include:
-Stray vs Feral Cats
-Why Catch & Kill Doesn’t Work
-Common Feral Cat Myths
-How to Trap Outdoor Cats
-Lost Cost Resources

There will also be Feral Cat Shelters available for sale and VIP Pet Care will be giving away free tote bags and cat carriers!

There will also be low cost resources for those who have pets of their own.

National Feral Cat Day, sponsored by Alley Cat Allies, draws hundreds of groups to come together at events nationwide to raise awareness about feral cats and Trap-Neuter-Return, the humane and effective method of care that improves the lives of feral cats.

Voices in the Dark Animal Rescue is an advocating voice for companion animals in the Cleveland Metropolitan Area who have been neglected, abused, abandoned, forgotten, or surrendered. We rescue and foster these animals until they are well enough to be adopted. We ensure amazing forever homes through education, collaboration, community outreach, intervention, and political reform. CVPS Panel Discussion: Ethics in Photography

CVPS promotes the CVNP through the photographic arts, primarily by providing educational opportunities through workshops and presentations. A panel of professional photographers will discuss the ethical perils in today’s photography. Panel members will approach ethical considerations from a variety of viewpoints including photojournalism, nature and fine art photography. They will cover topics including actions in the field when capturing images and post-processing limits. Panel members will be announced.
