Getting Started with Linux
6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
NEOPC NOVEMBER MEETING

Getting Started With Linux

There are many good valid reasons to use a Linux operating system on your home computer. The
Linux operating system has been around since the early 1990s. Those early versions required a
fair knowledge of computer programing and a willingness to employ those skills. Today, there are hundreds of variations of Linux and the one thing they all have in common is they are FREE.
Many of today’s Linux systems compete with Windows and Mac in regard to ease of use and
completeness. Because the presenter is new to Linux he has named his presentation, “Confessions
and Consternations of a Linux Newbie”. By putting in hundreds of hours to assemble a presentation tailored to anyone who would like to explore Linux, you have assurances you will come away from this meeting with a good picture of what might be ahead for you. As with anything new there is a learning curve; your current level of computer proficiency determines the angle of that curve.

P.S. The presenter is now running Linux (concurrently) on several of his personal computers.
The presenter is Bruce Brockman, who is currently serving as President of NEOPC. Mr. Brockman previously had his own businesses relating to the Automotive Industry and Senior Computer Training.
Free and open to all; for additional information, go to www.neopc.org.
