MAKE MUSIC: The Global Event Comes To Your Neighborhood!
6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
“Make Music: Lakewood” – a Festival of diversity, community and music – will be held at Lakewood Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 21. 6 – 9 p.m.

This outdoor event will be offered as a gift to the community without admission cost. In the event of rain, the Festival will be moved indoors.

The evening’s programs will include a diverse mix of musical offerings. In addition, there’ll be family-friendly games, attractions, and concessions for those who’d like to purchase “a beverage or a bite!”

The evening’s musical offerings will include: ShowPeace Entertainment (Hip Hop and Break Dancing), Victor Samalot (Latin Guitarist), The Tower City Chorus (Barbershop Chorus), and The Karen Bamboo Dancers of Lakewood Baptist Church.

In addition: Local instrumentalists of all ages are invited to participate in a special “Sousa-Palooza” performance being shared as part of this event. And local singers are invited to join the new Lakewood Choir of Churches, which will also be performing. Advance registration for both Sousa-Palooza and the Lakewood Choir of Churches is strongly recommended.

To register for “Sousa-Palooza” or the Lakewood Choir of Churches, visit: lakewoodbaptistohio.org, and click on the “Make Music” Link.

Additional attractions will include “Outback Ray’s Amazing Animals,” Balloon Artistry, Face Painting, and Pony Rides.

Concessions will include: “Peace, Love and Little Donuts,” as well as food trucks from “Bailey’s Board Walk Fries” and “Papa Nick’s Pizza.” (Rain will cancel both Food Trucks)

“Make Music: Lakewood” is a collaboration of Lakewood Baptist Church, Credo of Oberlin College, LakewoodAlive, The Downtown Lakewood Business Alliance, and ShowPeace Entertainment.

Supporting Partners for this event include: Plantation Home. Cotton. The Paisley Monkey. Bee My Baby Too. Lutheran Trinity Church of Lakewood. Lakewood United Methodist Church. Impact Church. Lakewood Christian Church. Lakewood City Schools. The City of Lakewood. And Mayor Mike Summers.

“Make Music Lakewood” is being held in conjunction with the larger city-wide celebration, “Make Music Cleveland.” To learn more about additional music events being held on June 21, visit: makemusicday.org/cleveland.

“Make Music Day” is a global event held each year on June 21, the Summer Solstice. “Make Music” began with France’s Fête de la Musique, a national musical holiday inaugurated in 1982.

Since that time, the Festival has become an international phenomenon, celebrated in more than 800 cities in 110 countries, including Germany, Italy, Egypt, Syria, Morocco, Australia, Vietnam, Congo, Cameroon, Fiji, Colombia, Chile, Nepal, and Japan.
