Celebrate Spring with Earth Day, the Great American Cleanup, and Keep Lakewood Beautiful!

The Keep Lakewood Beautiful organization is celebrating this time of year with its Annual Earth Day and Great American Cleanup on April 28th from 9am-1pm beginning at Lakewood Park. Come one or come all and help spruce up public areas in our city. Learn about recycling, learn from an arborist, and you can help: plant trees in observance of Arbor Day, plant flowers, mulch trees, or pick up litter. Meet at the Women’s Pavilion at Lakewood Park. Join us for this casual Q & A with Dave, where he’ll discuss his creative process and take your questions and comments.

Unlocking the Secret and Science of Happiness
Learn why meditation is important, how to meditate, and receive basic Buddhist teachings using Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche's delightful book as a guide. In this course we will explore the theory and practice of meditation including Mindfulness of Breathing, Walking Meditation and analytical meditations on Impermanence, the Joy of Being Human, and more.
This class offers an opportunity to learn meditation right from the beginning and also to deepen your own current practice and knowledge of the Buddhist path. Newcomers and experienced meditators all welcome!

Les Délices and Quire Cleveland Join Forces for "Let The Heavens Rejoice!" on April 28 at Lakewood Congregational Church

Les Délices (Debra Nagy, director) and Quire Cleveland (Ross Duffin, director) join forces on April 28 for a Lakewood performance of “Let the Heavens Rejoice!”, an exciting new program of French Baroque music for chorus and orchestra. Featuring resplendent, rarely-heard grand motets by Rameau and Mondonville, the modern premiere of a solo for tenor and orchestra by Lefebvre, and a fabulous 11-voice work for voices by Charpentier. Featured performers include Scott Metcalfe (conductor), Owen McIntosh (tenor), and Jeffrey Strauss (baritone).
