Cheffy, grilling question...

Is it safer to light my Sparkler from a gas grill or the stardard charcoal grill? Would you recommend wearing my Chef's hat while igniting the Sparkler? How long should I let let the Sparkler burn my fingertips before putting it out in a freshly raked pile of leaves? Do you foresee any safety issues if I light my Sparkler while standing in a puddle of water? Safety first, you know.
