Most corporations get to keep more of what they earn via deductions (In most cases, corporations are not getting "your money"). They are just keeping more of their earnings via the tax code / deductions. The working stiff gets the sh%^^ when it comes to tax deductions. Only in Amerika, do we create a tax code that is more beneficial to a non-citizen..

Are you saying Grace O'Malley was being untruthful? I prefer to think that she was just parroting something an advocate of change had said.

So-called tax breaks are usually written into the code (by Congress and the President) to encourage some type of action. So if they give the individual a deduction for mortgage interest, they obviously want us to carry large mortgages. probably to pump up the housing bubble. If they grant businesses accelerated depreciation, they probably hope the businesses will buy new equipment. I won't defend the tax code; it has become so complex that companies and wealthy people spend huge amounts manipulating their dealings to minimize their taxes. And if anyone feels smug about that, I would submit that many, many individuals use a tax preparation service to minimize (indeed, just to report) their taxes.

I won't defend the tax code because is is not designed to raise money; it has become an instrument of social engineering, used by both sides to advance their brand of control of our lives. As such, it has become an unmanageable monster.

I'm somewhat curious what the huge break for undocumented immigrants is; all you have provided is a teaser from some "news" publisher saying there is such a break, but neither the publisher nor you has actually shown that there is such a break.

My understanding is that many undocumented immigrants (and many Americans) deal in a cash economy, where no deductions are made. I doubt that many of them go to the IRS for a refund or a credit; they would seem to want to avoid becoming known to the IRS.

But many undocumented immigrants work in the regular economy and are subject to tax withholding. If they take advantage of some of the breaks in the tax code (as do you or I) shouldn't they? Even if they have left our country, shouldn't they be liable for earnings while they were here, and eligible to any credits or deductions related to those earnings.

I will be somewhat surprised if anyone can document a tax break for undocumented immigrants that is not available to Americans in like circumstances.
