The music was written by Louis Silvers, the lyrics by B. G. De Sylva. The song was published in 1921.
The song was introduced in the 1921 Broadway musical Bombo, where it was performed by Al Jolson. It has become a well-known Jolson trademark, recorded by him many times, but it has also been recorded by many other artists. "April Showers" is one of many popular songs whose lyrics use a "Bluebird of happiness" as a symbol of cheer. ("So keep on looking for a bluebird, and waiting for his song.") Jolson first recorded the song in October 1921 on Columbia records.

Rain heads south along the Western edge of The Emerald Canyon. This was less than 24 hours later from the storms than knock down more than 25 trees.
On of my favorite tunes written in 1 take by Elmore James to be put on the B-Side of his blues classic Dust My Broom. He looked out of the studio window and saw the rain coming down and wrote "The Sky Is Crying." Performed here by Stevie Ray Vaughn, who does it as well as anyone.
Well almost...
11 year old Grant Austin Taylor says move over Stevie!

07.30.10 Sunset I was amazed at how much this looked like lava. It just got brighter and brighter and more intense until dark.
Many people think these images are not of Lakewood sunsets, or tricked. Here is a larger shot of the sunset over the north rim of the Emerald Canyon.

I've been in and lived in many places, none of them top Lakewood in my heart.
I say this looking over a quilt of trees to the downtown skyline. Stunning on a misty afternoon.
