Ranger Baseball Update 3-28

Two beautiful days of baseball have passed, and the Rangers are still undefeated and lookin' good for this weekends early bird tournament.

Tuesday's game against Midview was a pitching duel. Lakewood Ace Tim LaBar struck out 12 batters and pitched a scoreless complete game. He also helped his own cause and turned a scoreless game in the bottom of the 6th inning into a 1-0 lead with a home run. That sparked three more runs from the Rangers, and they came out with a victory over Midpark by a final score of 4-0.

Wednesday was a chilly day, and the Rangers started off cold. Another great pitching duel was in the works with senior Adam Hrdlicka on the mound against Fairport Harbor. A tough Fairport team kept the Rangers scoreless, and great defense and teamwork held Fairport to no runs. Once again, in the bottom of the 5th and 6th, the Rangers scored twice to take the lead 2-0. Great relief work by senior Zach Toole shut the widnow of opportunity for the Fairport squad and the Rangers continued their winning streak.

Friday's game is scheduled at 4:30pm against Midpark. Midpark is a very tough team to beat, and are responsible for ending the Rangers playoff run last year in the District tournament. Saturday's game is at 10:30am, and then the Rangers play again against rival St.Eds in the evening. If you have free time this weekend, bring the kids and family to Lakewood Stadium for some rockin' Lakewood Baseball!
