Jim O'Bryan left and Ken Warren right recreate a bear photo from earlier in their friendship. Much harder to find a bear in Lakewood then in New York state. Ask Ken about the bear reference.
-
-
That is Ken on the far right speaking with locals as I take photos of a family from Somalia. Great people. Invited Ken and I over for some blood and goats milk. But that dinner engagement is another story!
-
One of my favorite Lakewood photos.

Thought I would give this carrying a cross a try.
-
Maybe I will drag it down to St. James.
-
You know I this is really helping me think.
-
Seriously. I was driving down the street when I saw this woman dragging a cross. So I stopped and spoke with her. What she told me was that she was carrying the cross from Ft. Wayne, Indiana to Boston, That Radical Results, require radical faith to take radical measures. She also mentioned that she...
-
... and Reverned Ron Bodendorf were taking turns carrying it.
-
They had hoped that their cross 1/2 country walk would convince those sitting on the fence to jump in and proclaim Jesus their savior. Interesting guy, and she seemed to be having fun. Mentioned how nice Lakewood was.

Ken Warren speaks with Rich Weiss, director of the Human Tribe Foundation about some new ideas for Lakewood. Rich is better known for being one of the founders of the Ingenuity Festival. He was at The Root Cafe looking for good ideas to fund in the area and had heard about the Lakewood Observer. Of course the LO does not seek grants and is a for profit company, but will be working with the Human Tribe Project on some of their incredible real world programs. Stay tuned!

Hidden Village is looking pretty good right now. But it is the back complex that has drawn the attention of the Feds.

Now who takes credit for their dedication. Could be interesting. Saw one civic leader getting her photos taken in front. Of course she never walked in and bought coffee or any of the delicious food. Just another phpto op for the wall.

Went on a field trip out east for the sake of Observering. First thing we ran into was this couple in a Volkswagen going around the world.
-
You can see their route.
-
And like two cars passing on a freeway they disappear going their way as we go ours.
-
After a quick stop at B&B Appliance Store(we could use a appliance store) to look at 3-D TV. We headed off to Micro-Center (Lakewood could use a good computer store), we noticed that they have traffic sensors like Lakewood! These are the ones that help control the flow of cars which cuts down on idling. It seems they have more gizmos to help with the flow than we do! This was a telephoto shot...
-
After 4 changes of the lights we were finally closs enough to see them do that marvelous job of smoothing traffic flows. Two more changes and we were through!
-
It was right after Micro Center, heading west back home that we saw the first of many Ed FitzGerald signs. We saw many more Ed FitzGerald signs than any other candidate. Hey! Let stop at Coventry!
-
So after stopping by a Verizon store (we have plenty of those), we turned onto Conventry on this dreay gray day.
-
Always nice to compare our downtown with Cleveland Hts. Downtown. It is like a sister city. Even our CDC studied Future Heights, A quick look around find some amazing similarities.
-
A Chipotle on the left, and on the right...
-
A Crazy Mullets! Hey we have one of those.
-
Wow, look at that a big Winking Lizard! We have one of those!
-
Phoneix! I feel I am back home, and a Gepetto's right around the corner! Well kind of gray, will come back and do a better walk about when it is brighter. Back home.
-
But first a quick stop at Hot Sauce Williams for some shoulder sandwiches! Boy could we use a Hot Sauce Williams in Lakewood.
-
The new Lancers Steak House.
-
The infamous Lancer Steak House was in the empty lot in front of the even more infamous Lancer Motel!
-
Though downtown Cleveland and our Theater District!
-
Almost back to Lakewood.

The sun rises on Lakewood, Ohio. Now after the celebration for being one of the "coolest" places to visit in America begins to wears off, how will it act?

Elvis Is In The Building.

As we answer the police call, Mars Ave was already blocked off.
-
While down in the library parking lot SWAT was ready.
-
-
This was the house about 6 up from Detroit Ave. on Mars Ave that they thought the suspect was held up in with a large cache of weapons. Neighbors describe the house as a half-way house for men.
-
After going through the house the SWAT guys found nothing and went about looking elsewhere in the city for the man known as "John."
-
Coming out from the house, you can see SWAT was ready and nervous about what was going on inside.
-
Finally around 3pm they packed up to leave.
-
-
Meanwhile elsewhere in the city other streets were closed down for block parties.
