  • And some of my friends from Gatherings.

  • Behind the table againt his year was Carol Hunt with Shawna Hoffsetter, always good seeing these two.

  • But my favorite booth had to be the Organic Lemonaid stand, 3 cups of cool sweet deliciosiness!

  • Mickey and Ryan Krivosh at the front gate to Three Birds. Lakewood's only 4-star restaurant and winner of the Best Patio in Lakewood 2011

  • After a near perfect wait (one round of drinks) our table was ready on the upper level of the patio.

  • I ordered the Duck Breast

  • Deb ordered the scallops, bit meals were perfect.

  • We enjoyed a great cup of coffee after dinner, as the evening came on.

  • Mickey lights one of his new heaters. Mickey was so excited talking about these new heaters he bought after seeing them in one of his favorite restaurants in Florida. "They are kind of cool huh?" So he goes over and lights it, and I am chuckling to Deb about how much like a kid he is sometimes with his exciement. Then a table of four comes in and says, "Can we sit next to that fire thingy."

  • Billy Davis talkws with Walter hopkins. Walt was an English teacher at Lakewood High, back when I went there. Besides being one of the minds that thought up Group 30, and idea 30 years ahead of its time, he was also the Founder of Connection. Both programs were huge in my life. This was dinner with six of us at Vila Zapata at 8505 Madison Ave. To rehash and look back at some amazing experiements.

  • The other day I was crossing the Lakewood Bridge over Rocky River, and coming deep into Lakewood I noticed an unmarked Rocky River police car, in a radar trap. As I stopped and watched for a bit, it occured to me that he was poaching our speeders. It was ahrd to believe from the way he operated the unit, he was grabbing speeders in Rocky River. As I went back and studied it...

  • ... it became somewhat confusing where Lakewood starts and stops, and if this bridge is just no man's land. Still I have never seen Lakewood work this border either on this side of the river or the other side, where Rocky River has almost always radar working if they have a spare patrol car.

  • Over the Detroit Ave. Bridge the borders are clearly marked. But on the Clifton Road Bridge it is not marked. Does it matter, who knows, just another Observation.

  • Th new Lincoln Electric Windmill shot from 21 blocks away in Euclid. It is rumored that 5 of these would provide Lakewood with over 100% of it's needed power! So where do we put them? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

  • This photo was taken on the property. The car in front is about 50 yards away, and the windmill is still 1/2 mile away.

  • The blades are 162' long, and they claim it would only take 5 of them to run the entire city of Lakewood with FREE power for all, and maybe even a dividened back from the Electric Company! Now couple this with a mass quainty by of various electric vehicles, things could get interesting very quickly. What would you do with the extra money? I would shop local!

  • Around 12:10 pm A dump truck traveling east on I-90 had a blow out of his front tire which caused the truck to cross three lanes of traffic and hit the concrete medium almost head on. The engine and front of the truck landed in the oncoming lane. It also caiused massive pieces of the median to fly across three lanes of traffic in the east bound lane. The truck 40 year-old truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Miracoulsy no one else was injured or involved. The freeway was closed going West for 4 hours, and heading East it was down to one lane.

  • A neighbor called in an alarm on the house next door on Thoreau. Good thing...

  • ... because it was burning!

  • When the back door was opened smoke billowed out.

  • The fire was between the walls, suspiciously close to the air conditioner.

  • As they pried off the bottom slats the smoke could be seen coming out.

  • They kept pulling away wood.

  • And the wood they pulled off was chared by heat.

  • Then the fire was out! Good work to all. Especially the neighbor that smelled smoke, and called, and to LakewoodAlive's Hillary who told the firemen there were two dogs in the house. Both of which were accounted for after being told and in good shape!

  • You know it seems pretty corny...

  • ... until you see them in action.
