Lakewood Fire Department Training 2011

With Lakewood Lutheran Church and School being pulled down the Lakewood Police got a chance to tack in some practice in entering buildings under fire. So they invited, Rocky River, Westlake and Bay to the party. All photos are the property of The Lakewood Observer, Inc. ©2011

  • Going by the Lutheran School I could not help but notice the activity of many fire departments.
  • I saw some climbing an old building...
  • Then saw others leaving the school...
  • ... through some un-orthodox methods...
  • ...
  • Then Fire Chief Scott Gillman pulled up and thanked me for stopping by to check out the practice. It seems that since both structures were being torn down for the CVS Super Store, why not get it for practice. "Zaremba Construction has always been good about letting fire departments practice." said Scott
  • These guys were practing leaving a building quickly in case it was going to blow up.
  • These firefighters were practicing chopping holes in flat roofs.
  • In 88 degree heat with full packs it was hot!
  • Meanwhile inside they were pracising open locked doors...
  • ...
  • ... they go through the doors like they were butter.
  • Rocky River Fire Department practices running up tight stairs and knocking in lock doors in full gear.

  • While Lakewood's firefighters love the ladders.
  • Great visit guys, thanks for the heads up.
