  • While this looks like the business end of a Google Map car. It is not. This is much more complex. This is used for the next level of GPS imaging. It is tied into all sorts of other things that allow the vehicle carrying it to creat 3D maps, and scans of a city's streets. That is right a real 3D experience just like driving down the street. You can walk around buildings!

  • This is the NAVTEQ/bing car. Their tag line is "Two great companies working together " "We're creating a great view of this world and protecting your corner of it." According to the driver and brochures I have found. It automatically blanks out license plates, and faces as it records the images. They go on to say that of the rare event of any of this or anything that upsets a person occurs, they can call, email, whatever and the image will be addressed immediately.

  • NAVTEQ/bing addressing the concerns of many with Google Maps.

  • The wheel units measure wheel travel and exact placement of the car.
