Attack Of The Abstract At The Root

"Immagik" by Walley "Two Hawks"

"Hello abstraction!" says the Root Cafe. This June they give up their walls to Walley "Two Hawks" and Dale J. Wiersma! Here is a brief look into the minds of two individuals with shapes and lines on their pallet:

"My Art is about exploring the depths of consciousness and the limitlessness of visualization. The whole process of becoming an artist is really a journey through the worlds within us: it's an awakening to new ways of perception and to always be in the moment. This becomes the only way to put it on paper, the only way to live. My monoprints come from my moods and from dealing with stuff I can't put into words. Some are attempts to understand my dreams. Some are just the result of printing mindlessly one rainy Sunday at Zygote Press. To be involved in the creative process, to make anything, really, puts us in touch with the Creator, personally. Since retiring from the trades (Carpenter's Local 212), I've become a volunteer art teacher's aid. I get to help kids discover that they can create. This is the most important and rewarding thing I've ever done, and I'm thankful for the opportunity. All children should learn about making dreams come true." - Walley "Two Hawks"

"I’m a local artist from Lakewood Ohio. While in high school I started participating in art classes and was trying to figure out what I was doing there and what was in my head. In 1999 I was diagnosed with colon cancer. So 4 surgeries and 11 years and 36 years with NASA, after all that, I’ve figured out why I call my art Creative Abstract Doodling.” Creative - being adept or prolific at producing new things and ideas, Abstract – not experiencing or generating a strong emotional commitment or response and Doodling – to work aimlessly, fruitlessly, or pointlessly." - Dale J. Wiersma
