Front Porch Concerts

LakewoodAlive is proud to present 2010 Lakewood is Art: One World Music Concerts featuring three performances by popular world music artists. Celebrating Lakewood’s global community, the One World Music Concerts will take place at 7:00 p.m. on three Fridays in July on the steps of the main branch of Lakewood Public Library at 15425 Detroit Avenue.

 One World Music Concert Schedule:

Fri., July 9 - African Village Music with Halim El-Dabh

Fri., July 16 - Saborit Latin & Soul

Fri., July 23 - Carlos Jones and the P.L.U.S. Band

In anticipation of a large crowd, Detroit Avenue, between Arthur Extension and Mars Avenue will be closed for the Carlos Jones event.

The One World Music program was conceived by Ruth Koenigsmark and Barb Michel of Lakewood Is Art in 2009 and is presented by LakewoodAlive with the generous support of Lakewood Hospital, Panera Bread, City of Lakewood, Lakewood Public Library, Lakewood Is Art, and Downtown Lakewood.

Jim Crawford, Lakewood Library Director expressed delight in the series moving to the library’s front porch venue. ”The library serves as a crossroads for the community and at any given moment the diversity of our city is well represented here. The shared experience of One World Music will enhance and strengthen Lakewood’s social capital-and be a lot of fun, too!”
