Barnstormers' "Dream Girl" On Stage Nov. 3-5
The Lakewood High School Barnstormers Club is set to put on its first performance of the year when it stages Elmer Rice’s comedy “Dream Girl” Nov. 3-5 at 8 p.m. in the high school’s Tryout Theater.
The action of the play is set in 1945 in and around New York City (as well as in the daydreams of the main character). It is spring when a young man’s fancy – and a young woman’s daydreams – may turn to thought of love. All of the action of the play takes place in a single day.
Director David S. Gannon said he selected the play because it is both a challenge to the actors and the stage crew. “Because the play is set in the ‘40s, one challenge for the actors is to understand the differences in language, social customs and historical context between then and now,” Gannon said. “The challenge for the crew is to quickly, efficiently and smoothly change the set more than 20 times during the performance.”
Tickets for the show are $3 presale and $5 at the door. To reserve your tickets call Gannon at 216-529-4162 and leave your name, number of tickets desired and date of performance and the tickets will be held for you at the door at the presale price.
