Thanks! Doners And Volunteers For LCAC Thanksgiving Food Drive success ... LCAC Holiday Food Drive coming December 16 – 17!
With the help of hundreds of volunteers, Lakewood Charitable Assistance Corp. (LCAC) brightened the Thanksgiving holiday for 312 Lakewood families and seniors. “Thanks to a very successful food drive, many helping hands, and beautiful weather, the Thanksgiving food baskets were delivered without any problems” states Jeff Worron, LCAC President. “Let’s hope the Christmas food drive is just as successful!”
Tables at the Masonic Temple were stacked high with canned goods, and non-perishable foods donated through St. Edward High School, Grant Elementary, Horace Mann Elementary, and Lincoln Elementary schools.
In addition, the students and faculty at St. Edward High School worked together to raise approximately $5000. The H20 program of Lakewood raised approximately $2400 through their Pumpkin Palooza event and Hope for the Holidays at Lakewood High School raised over $1200. This money will be used to help purchase the perishable food items needed such as turkeys, potatoes, pumpkin pies and other food items for both the Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Drives. Not to be outdone, the Lakewood / Rocky River Sunshine Kiwanis worked with The Breadsmith to gather hundreds of donated bread loaves for the meals.
Yet, all these donations would never have made it to the tables of the families and seniors here in Lakewood if it were not for the over 200 volunteers that helped sort, bag and deliver the food right to the doorstep of those in need. Delighted with the Thanksgiving success, LCAC is working to duplicate the efforts for the upcoming Christmas food drive.
The Christmas Food drive is underway. Non-perishable cans and boxes can be donated at a variety of Lakewood locations Monday December 5 – Thursday December 15.

Food donations will be accepted at the locations listed through Thursday December 15th. Monetary donations can be made directly to LCAC through the website at www.lcac.info or mailed directly to LCAC at PO Box 771421 Lakewood OH 44107.
Once the food is collected, all the food will need to be sorted so the “human chain” can systematically place food in bags and get them ready for delivery. Many helping hands are greatly needed to sort, assemble and deliver the 300 Holiday Food baskets.
