Friends Of Lakewood Public Library Book Sale
The Friends of Lakewood Public Library will hold the final book sale of the summer on Saturday, August 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Main Library, 15425 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood.
The Friends are the most powerful ally the Library has during tough economic times. The centerpiece of the Friends operation is the old-fashioned Book Sale. When you purchase books, movies, magazines and other items at these events, you are participating in a grand experiment, now celebrating over thirty years of service to the Library and the community. But there is so much more…
Though membership is not required for the regular book sale, you can join the Friends of Lakewood Public Library for as little as $2. Families only cost $5, and a lifetime membership is only $100. Membership supports Lakewood Public Library programming, from free concerts and lectures to Saturday night movies. The Friends host members only book sales each season, and those who join get first pick of all the great items donated. You can also support the Friends by donating books, magazines, movies and music. These items will be sold, or added to the Library collection. In the last few years, the Friends have begun selling rare books online to increase revenue. An ongoing, year-round book sale corner has been established in the Main Library Atrium. Reading material has been donated to armed forces personnel serving in warzones. And libraries devastated by floods and other natural disasters have put themselves back together with help from the Friends. Visit www.lakewoodpubliclibrary.com/friends for more information.
This free event will be held in the Lakewood Public Library’s Book Sale area in the Basement. Call (216) 226-8275 ext. 127 for more information.
