KB Confections Delights Customers In Iconic Lakewood Location
Karen Bosworth has provided Lakewood residents for many years with delicious and creative cakes. So when KB Confections announced that they would be opening up a storefront in Lakewood, anticipation was in the air. For months now, signs of the KB Confections pastry and coffee shop have slowly been popping up at the well known greenhouse complex accross from St. Edward's High School. As the demand for catered cakes did not waver all thoughout the process of opening up the shop, Karen quietly opened KB Confections on July 19th in order to keep up with requests. However, word quickly spread and the pastries flew off the shelves.
I walked down the street on Saturday morning to have my first taste of their sweets and was delighted at what I found. Though the sample cakes in the windows had been up for some time, it was amazing to see them up close. The intricate painting, decoration, and craft of each one can only truly be appreciated at close range. To accompany the fantastic cakes, the lovely décor of the shop gives off a comfortable and warm feeling- a feeling which exudes from every Bosworth family member behind the counter as well. The inviting design of the shop is sure to translate wonderfully once the second part of KB Confections opens in the attached greenhouse where there will be seating for their extensive and already up and running coffee services.
However, eating the treats of KB Confections far surpassed any other aspect of this new addition to Lakewood. It was far too difficult to choose just one sweet, and, therefore, I picked out a blackpberry caramel bar and a lemon tart to taste. The blackberry caramel bar was perfectly sweet and not overbearingly sugary, as caramel can often be. The fruit was very fresh and there was not a single bite without blackberry in it. Tarts are by far one of my favorite things, but never before have I had one so light, yet surprisingly rich and creamy at the same time. The crust was delicately handled and the lemon topping had just the right amount of sour lemon tang to it. The custard filling to it was delectably velvety and its sweetness went wonderfully with the excellent cup of coffee I had from KB Confections.
Apart from these two specific pastries KB Confections also offers a variety of muffin, cupcakes, macaroons, bars, tarts, and, of course, beautiful cakes. Karen also mentioned that she is planning to add mini quiches and her famous pudding to the menu.
These tasty treats, and many more to come, made by KB Confections are indeed an exceptional addition to the streets of Lakewood and I would highly suggest them to anyone.
KB Confections is located at 13519 Detroit Ave, Lakewood, Ohio and their hours are 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
