Textbook Painting Joins Lakewood Businesses

Textbook Painting has recently moved into the Lake Erie Building and is enthusiastic about working in the Lakewood community. Textbook Painting is made up of 28 branches across the Midwest, which are all managed by college interns.  Branch managers do everything from hiring their own painting crew to executing marketing strategies. These managers gain a great deal of experience through this internship and are able to apply business concepts that have been taught in the classroom.

Bryan McCarthy, the branch manager in Lakewood, is currently a junior at John Carroll University. This is his second year working as a manager for Textbook Painting. McCarthy returned for a second summer with Textbook Painting after gaining a great deal of experience and success with the company last year. Last summer, he ran a branch in Westlake, and this year, McCarthy is excited for the opportunity to work in Lakewood.

"I love working in Lakewood. I have lived in Lakewood my whole entire life and know it like the palm of my hand so its truly amazing to be able to work in this city," stated McCarthy. "I get to work on streets that I've walked down my whole life and get to meet people throughout the area that I would never have had the chance to meet." 

Another local manager, Ted Bradfield in Rocky River, will be a junior at Miami University this year. He is creating his own major at Miami, which combines business law and entrepreneurship. Bradfield took this summer to gain more experience in the field of entrepreneurship by running his own branch of Textbook Painting.

"Because I'm creating my own major at Miami, which is a combination between entrepreneurship and business law," stated Bradfield, "this experience has provided me with an insight into a future in entrepreneurship. This internship is unique because it has allowed me to experience entrepreneurship firsthand, rather than just learning about it."
