Offended By Anonymous Out-of-state Money Attacking Sherrod Brown
Afraid to watch TV these days? So many misleading, negative ads pollute the airwaves that reasonable people DVR past them or simply click “off.”
Particularly obnoxious are the outrageous, cynical ads attacking U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown funded by $19.6 million (so far) in anonymous, out-of-state money. October will bring more attack ads, paid for by a new barge-load of imported special interest cash.
Why would special interests pay such huge sums to defeat Sherrod? Because he won’t do their bidding. He fights instead for middle class families whose only lobbyist in Washington is their Senator himself.
If special interests succeed in defeating Sherrod, would all this money come without strings attached? Or would Sherrod’s opponent owe favors to those who funded the TV blitz -- people without an Ohio zip code?
I trust Sherrod Brown to stand up to special interests and fight for communities like Lakewood: in the darkest days of the foreclosure crisis, Sherrod delivered federal dollars to stabilize neighborhoods hard-hit by predatory lending. In Lakewood, we’ve put those funds to work to rehab or demolish-and-rebuild dozens of homes, stabilizing nearby property values.
Let’s vote against negative ads and anonymous out-of-state cash by voting for Sherrod Brown.
