“We are pleased to honor Steve Ott for all he has given to the Lakewood community,” said Mayor Summers. “Steve is one of the community’s “go to“ persons when a new and big idea needs serious work and guidance. Our current housing initiative which has proven results was begun under Steve’s leadership in 2007. In addition, a significant guidepost of all the commercial development we are experiencing on Detroit and elsewhere rely on the zoning codes overhauled under Steve’s leadership on the Planning Commission. We are grateful that Steve volunteers his time and talent to so many community organizations“.

These revisions are the foundation for much of the development that it is currently taking place in Lakewood today. Steve also served as the co-chair of the Housing Advisory Committee as part of the Grow Lakewood initiative. He was a founding member the Lakewood Community Progress Inc. and has been a board member under its new name, LakewoodAlive, since 2002.
