Lakewood Roller Derby Stars Play Rough At March 16 Bout

Lakewood resident Rainbow Fright races around the track at a bout last season.

The four home teams of the Burning River Roller Girls, Cleveland’s premier flat track roller derby league, will face off for their first games of the season Saturday, March 16, at the Ohio Nets Sports Complex in Parma. Whether you’re cheering for the Hellbombers, the Cleveland Steamers, the Rolling Pin-Ups or the Hard Knockers, you will be well represented by some of the best athletes in Lakewood.

The first bout in this double-header event will be the Hellbombers vs. the Cleveland Steamers. Lakewood residents Nicole Sovizral (skater name, Sovizral) and Marissa Evans (Enemylou Harris) will be donning the black and red of the league’s reigning champs, the Hellbombers, while Amanda Leone (CupQuake), Ilona Westfall (Rainbow Fright), and Valerie Hearst (Ms. CréAnt) will represent the Cleveland Steamers. Amy C. Hawks (Molotov Hot-tail) will make Lakewood proud when her team, the Hard Knockers, takes on the Rolling Pin-Ups, captained by Jessica Constantine (J.Poww!).

Doors open at 5 p.m., and the bout begins at 6 p.m. Arrive early for preferred seating. Trackside seating available for those 18 and older who want to be right on top of the action.

Tickets and season passes are available at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/producer/244691. Advance tickets are $12 for adults. Discounted tickets available for children 12 and younger. Special VIP packages are also available. Adult tickets will be for sale at the door for $15, but due to the league’s first bout at Ohio Nets selling out, it highly recommends purchasing in advance.
