Cleaning Up Lakewood One Bar At A Time

All made with natures skin loving ingredients!

STEM Handmade Soap opened its retail location in Birdtown 6 months ago and has now sold a ton of soap--literally! Proof that Lakewood has a lot of bars--of soap that is! It’s not that Lakewood citizens are any less clean than folks in other cities, so why this affinity for handmade 100% natural artisan soap? It creates an invigorating lather in the shower, cleans your skin really well and smells amazing, but it is good for you too!

What makes it so good for you?

There is only one way to make soap. Combine oils with a strong base and soap is created. Everyone makes soaps the same way, including STEM Soaps and companies who produce it commercially. The difference is what happens once the soap is made. When soap is made, glycerine is a natural byproduct. Many companies who make soap commercially extract it from the soap to use in other cosmetic ingredients to enhance bottom line profits. Handmade soap retains all of the naturally produced glycerine. Glycerine is really great for your skin. It is a natural humectant which draws moisture to your skin. It is also a good cleanser to get rid of extra oils and dirt that can clog your pores.

STEM Handmade Soaps are loaded with glycerine, but that’s not all.

STEM Handmade Soaps uses only vegetable oils that are good for the skin to make the soap they sell. Every bar is made from 6 simple skin loving oils: soybean, coconut, palm kernel, safflower, shea butter and babassu plus all natural and pure essential oils. This means you also get all of the benefits of aromatherapy from your skin care products. In addition to soap, you will also find a wide variety of lotions, body butters, lip balms, foaming hand soaps, room sprays, and soy candles also scented with essential oils. Coming soon to our retail location in Birdtown will be natural deodorant, shampoo, sugar scrubs, and a men’s line of shaving soap, beard oil and accessories.

You can also take a soap making class and experience firsthand how it's made using nature's skin-loving ingredients. Stop in and you will also have a ton of fun with Steve, Dave and Susan to help you clean up, one bar at a time, naturally!

STEM Soaps is located at 12405 Madison Ave and is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m. as well as Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
