Ranger Boys Win District Cross Country Title

Congratulations to the Lakewood High School Boys' Varsity Cross Country team on capturing the Division 1 District Cross Country Championship, the team's first title since 2007. Lakewood finished first out 11 teams at Districts. Rocky River, Avon and St. Ed's will join the Rangers at Regionals as those teams finished 2nd-4th, respectively.

 Scoring for the boys were sophomore Henry Bish (5th place), senior Bely Stockman (10th), sophomore Tysaun Blevins (13th), junior Jacob Gregory (17th) and sophomore Micah Swartz (18th). Freshman Evan Budzar and sophomore Gunnar Stockman are also part of the winning team. The team is coached by Stephanie Toole and Assistant Coach Jacob Ott.

The top four teams (and 16 individuals) advanced on to the Division 1 Regional Meet in Tiffin on October 25. The Tiffin meet is one of the fastest and most competitive Regional meets in the state.

The girls' team finished 8th, with junior Mallory Shaw qualifying for Regionals. Mallory ran an outstanding race and finished 8th overall and qualified for the Regional meet as an individual. The girls' team is coached by Abbey Gleason and Assistant Coach Danielle Hammond.
