Critically Acclaimed Pianist To Perform Christmas Concert

Dr. H. Leslie Adams, nationally renowned and honored composer, educator and performer, will present a special “sounds of the “Christmas Musical Reflections” concert at 5 p.m. on December 7th at Grace Presbyterian Church in Lakewood.

Known to musicians throughout the world, Dr. Adams has performed with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony and the Prague Radio Symphony among many other ensembles, and served as accompanist at the studios of Ballet Russe, Robert Joeffrey, and June Taylor, in New York City. Dr. Adams is also one of America’s most gifted composers, in symphony, cantata, ballet, chamber music, art song and opera. His works have been performed by the Cleveland Orchestra, the Ohio Chamber Orchestra, the Indianapolis Symphony and the National Symphony of Iceland, to name just a few of the noted ensembles that have performed his works.

Dr. Adams’ latest work, Piano Etudes, premiered November 1st, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Critically acclaimed, the Etudes have been released on two CDs, available at Amazon.com. The CDs will also be available for sale at the December 7th  concert.

A native Clevelander, Dr. Adams attended Cleveland Public Schools, and went on to earn music degrees at Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Cal State/Long Beach, and a PhD in music composition from Ohio State University.

In his long career in music, Dr Adams has taught at Florida A&M University and The University of Kansas, and served as composer-in-residence at Karamu House and The Cleveland Music School Settlement. He is currently in his 18th year as music and choir director at Grace Presbyterian in Lakewood.

The concert on December 7th promises to be the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit. Dr. Adams, on piano and organ, will be joined by pianist Dorothy Lewis and flutist Tara Webb. in an evening of favorite carols and songs of holiday cheer. After the concert, everyone in attendance will have an opportunity to meet and chat with Dr. Adams.
