LakewoodAlive Housing Program Wins CrowdRise Challenge

On Wednesday, October 12, Enterprise Community Partners announced that LakewoodAlive was the recipient of their "Nurture an Idea" CrowdRise Challenge, earning the organization $10,000 in addition to a successful crowd sourcing campaign that raised nearly $5,200. Nurture an Idea is a program that seeks to support non-profit organizations in their pursuit of improving their community.

LakewoodAlive and four other community development corporations in Cleveland were challenged to raise funds to support their big idea. The organization that raised the most would win an extra $10,000. Through the support of 91 individuals, LakewoodAlive successfully completed the challenge in support of our Housing Outreach Program’s 2015 Community Engagement Program’s neighborhood initiatives.

The Community Engagement Program is aimed at assisting those residents and neighborhoods who are most in need of assistance. We will have a Community Engager working in the Birdtown and Scenic Park neighborhoods engaging residents, coordinating community events like financial literacy and home repair workshops, volunteer projects, community "pot-luck" style meals and resource fairs so that community members are able to re-engage with one another as well as bringing necessary programming into these neighborhoods to reinvigorate community pride.

The LakewoodAlive Housing Outreach Program has been working with residents across the community to help them with their home maintenance needs. This has been done through our contractor evaluations, housing educational series, one-on-one consultations, PaintLakewood program, volunteer outreach, etc. We've worked with homeowners to deal with their home repair needs which have generated significant economic improvements across the community.

Would you like to support LakewoodAlive’s efforts in the community? We welcome donations of $10, $100 or $1,000. Donate online at lakewoodalive.com, mail a donation to 14701 Detroit Avenue, #LL10, Lakewood, OH 44107 or call 216-541-0655 to learn more. All donations are tax deductible.

We thank Enterprise Community Partners and their sponsor, Ohio Savings Bank, for inviting use to participate in this program and for their financial support.

Thank you to all who supported LakewoodAlive through the Challenge. We had a fun time with our inner-office competition and Housing Outreach Director Allison Urbanek is looking forward to a clean and tidy office courtesy of Executive Director Ian Andrews. The two staffers competed to see who could raise more funds.
