The Art Festival Book Sale

The Friends of Lakewood Public Library are some of the most dedicated people around. The amount of time and work they devote to helping the Library bring you spectacular entertainment and educational programing can be explained by their selfless, kind-hearted personalities, as well as a strong devotion to our spectacular community of Lakewood.

On August 1 the 38th Annual Lakewood Arts Festival will be held in downtown Lakewood, and  the library will be hosting the Art Festival Book Sale; the sale will take place in the basement from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and will showcase a huge collection of over 500 Musical books, scores, librettos, sheet music and CD’s donated in honor of Lynnette Guttman, by the Lynnette Guttman Voice Studios. The studio was located in Lakewood, and was a sanctuary for hundreds of vocal students studying in this area, Mrs. Guttman was well known for her performances in the art world, and many of her students are exceedingly gifted and actively performing in highly respected Broadway productions.

It is in Lynnette’s honor we can offer such a fine selection of music; from Broadway, sacred, opera and everything in between. Lynnette unfortunately passed away August, 2011, at the age of 53, and the donation was made by Joan Tropf.

In addition, the Friends of the Library received an exceedingly generous and large donation of brand new or barely used fiction books and cookbooks.

The support we receive from our community, not only in proceeds but also in donations is overwhelming, and we have so much to be grateful for, to the Friends, our patrons and everyone whose hard work allows for our Library to continue to meet the high standards that can be expected when you cross over the threshold of our institution.

We hope you will join us on August 1 at the Friends Book sale. For any further information please visit our website as lakewoodpubliclibrary.org. Happy summer everyone.
