Before the Broadway phenomenon "Hamilton…" there was "In the Heights!" This 2008 Tony® winning musical comes from Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creative mastermind and recipient of the 2015 MacArthur “Genius” Award. With a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes, this story explores the vibrant community of New York’s Washington Heights, a neighborhood on the brink of change. Filled with a Tony® and Grammy® winning score, "In the Heights" is about what it takes to make a living, the cost of having a dream, and where the biggest struggle can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind.

This locally-produced premiere is directed by Victoria Bussert, director of Music Theatre at Baldwin Wallace University. "In the Heights" features a talented ensemble of twenty-three actors from BW’s nationally recognized MT program. Professional actors Jessie Cope Miller and Jared Lead join the cast and appear courtesy of the Actors’ Equity Association. This production also includes musical direction by David Pepin and choreography by Gregory Daniels.

"I can't think of a better way to present the fifth year of the Beck Center/Baldwin Wallace University collaboration than presenting the locally-produced premiere of 'In the Heights,'” remarked Bussert. The collaboration has also brought highly-acclaimed productions of "Spring Awakening," "Next to Normal," "CARRIE the musical," and "Dogfight" to Beck Center stages. “We are so excited to perform the music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of the hottest musical on Broadway, 'Hamilton!'” Baldwin Wallace students from this collaboration have recently gone on to perform on Broadway and national television.

Tickets are $31 for adults, $27 for seniors (65 and older), and $12 for students with a valid I.D. A $3 service fee per ticket will be applied at time of purchase. Preview Night on Thursday, February 11 is $10 with general admission seating. Group discounts are available for parties of four or more.
