The Lakewood Public Library Summer Reading Club 2016

Monday, May 9 through Monday, August 1

Celebrate 100 years of the Lakewood Public Library by reading. Bring your birth through fifth grade child’s birthday reader and sign them up for the Lakewood Public Library’s annual summer reading club, “Happy 100th Birthday.” Sixth through twelfth graders have their own reading club, “Party of the Century.” Participants will gather stamps and prizes as they go, and a special reward awaits those who complete thirty books, chapters or hours of reading (age appropriate goals) by August 1, 2016.

The fun doesn’t end there, either. Arts and crafts abound! Any child with a parent/caregiver may stop by Monday through Thursday, June 6 through July 28, anytime between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and pick up a “Birthday Craft” to do together. Our celebration-inspired craft changes each week!

While finishing your reading record is quite an accomplishment, even that doesn’t end the adventure. Children and their families will celebrate the end of summer reading at the “Summer Reading 100th Birthday Party” at the Madison Park Pavilion on Wednesday, August 3, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with fun, games, and prizes. Teens will have their own “Teen Party of the Century” on Friday, August 12 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Library. Help us make 2016 a celebration to remember.

To register, stop by our Main Library or Madison Branch starting May 9, 2016.
