Hayes Students Continue To Give Back

This spring Hayes Elementary students made a commitment, once again, to reach out to families in need. Through their service projects over the years, these students continue to learn the importance of giving to and caring for people who are less fortunate. The students are dedicated and always willing to lend a helping hand.

Over the past school years we did the “Sock Challenge,” the “Soap in the Tub Challenge” and the “Cheerio Challenge,” which entailed filling up Principal Sandy Power’s office with boxes of Cheerio’s and collecting over 400 bars of soap and 300 pairs of socks.

This year our challenge is to collect toothbrushes and toothpaste to give to Family Promise of Greater Cleveland, which is an organization that provides shelter to homeless families. Families reside in the Family Promise facility and work with case managers who assist them in finding housing, employment, financial stability and link them to medical, mental health and legal services while ensuring the well-being of the children.

It’s always a joy to see the children come into the office smiling and so excited to drop off the items. Our Hayes children are always ready to go above and beyond in any situation. We are so lucky to have such kind and caring students!
