LEAF Kicks Off Another Year Of Local Food In Lakewood

The sounds of live music waft through the air, families gathered on the Library’s front porch, and baskets overflowing with colorful produce, can only mean one thing – it’s time for LEAF Night Farmers' Markets again! Join us in front of the Main Library for our very first LEAF Night of the year, our annual "Spring Fest," on June 9th and again every Thursday night through the end of the growing season in October from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Lakewood Public Library, 15425 Detroit Ave.

Plant Seeds: We'll have plenty of beans and squash seeds for the kids (or adults) to plant and take home with you to your own garden!

Music: Enjoy listening to fresh local tunes from duo Willow Hawks (Ukulele & Vocals) and Jimmy Wilkens (Bass and Guitar), a.k.a. The Sonder Bombs, while you shop local too!

Local Vendors: Come out to support your local farmers, artisans, crafters, and more! Check out the list below to see if your favorite vendor is returning for 2014 or find a new favorite from our growing list.

Community Supported Agriculture Programs (CSA): This season, LEAF Community is partnering with several produce CSA programs. All of the programs offered vend local produce, so items will vary depending on the growing season. Feel great that your food was grown within 75 miles, and picked within 24 hours of delivery! Options for residents with limited incomes:

LEAF Community Market is a participating market in the "Produce Perks" program again this year! This is a program of the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Food Policy coalition, where Ohio Direction card holders can get buy one get one free market tokens (up to $10) for fresh fruits and vegetables.

If you feel deterred from joining a typical CSA program, since most programs require the large lump sum payment in the early spring, LEAF also offer a CSA Payment Plan in which you can make weekly payments.

Visit the customer service table at the Farmers' Market to learn more about both of these programs.
