Free, Four-week Course On Art And Aesthetics At Lakewood Public Library

What is art? How does creativity work? Is art meaningful? Who decides if a work is good or bad? If these questions seem like fodder for stimulating summer conversation, join us at the Main Library Auditorium on four successive Thursdays, July 7-28, from 7-8:30 p.m. for a discussion of Aesthetics and Art Theory.

Michael D. Miller, who holds a PhD in philosophy from The Ohio State University and has over a decade of university teaching experience, will lead the discussions. The first session will concentrate on the essence or true definition of art. On July 14, discussion will center on creativity and the purpose of art. The remaining sessions will cover the meaning of art and whether quality is objective or subjective.

This free program comes to the Lakewood Public Library through the Laura and Alvin Siegal Lifelong Learning Program at Case Western Reserve University. To register, go to www.lifelonglearningcleveland.org or call the Library at 216/226 8275, ext. 127.
