Urban Bulk Foods Celebrating Over One Year Of Bringing Selection, Value And Country Charm To The Lakewood Community

Cage-free Eggs from Holmes County, Ohio

The Paszkowskis are very grateful to the residents of Lakewood for all of their support during their first year. “We’ve expanded our merchandise,” said Dennis. The refrigerated section at Urban Bulk Foods now includes meats and cheeses from Walnut Creek Foods, Troyer and Dutch Valley in addition to the cage-free eggs and the popular Amish rolled butter. For the vegan, Urban Bulk Foods now offers Butler Soy Curls, a tasty meat alternative that is sold only in five Ohio stores.

In addition to food products, customers can find an eclectic array of hand crafted goods like: bibs in child and adult sizes, aprons, tote bags, quilts, crocheted bath scrubbies and for your feline friend, cat nip toys-made with catnip grown on the Paszkowksi’s farm. There is a wonderful assortment of natural soaps from The Soap Works as well as incenses and lip balms.

Urban Foods still carries their usual items of local honey, maple syrup, sugars, spices, flours (with gluten-free options), snacks and so many types of confections that one would think they’ve gone to Candyland.

Yet, it’s the ambiance of the store that makes them stand out. Many of their displays are refurbished/ repurposed from other sources. The counter is made from an oak tree that was on the property of the former St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lakewood while the wood shelving was made from crates that were used to ship glass for the atrium in the Cleveland Museum of Art. The décor gives the feel of stepping into an old time country store.

In keeping with the “old time” values, Urban Bulk Foods does their best to have locally sourced products and to be as eco-friendly as possible. Dennis and Jen are always happy to assist their customers, making everyone feel like a friend. The Paszkowski’s look forward to giving the Lakewood Community another year of selection, value and country charm.

Check out Urban Bulk Foods at 14021 Madison Avenue in Lakewood, Ohio. Open six days a week. They accept cash, credit card and SNAP.
