Community Recreation And Education Commission Opening

The Lakewood Board of Education is looking to fill the open seat on the Community Recreation & Education Commission (C.R.E.C.) due to the recent resignation of Steve Ott.

Mr. Ott has served on several commissions such as the softball commission, and the adult athletic commission before being appointed to the C.R.E.C. His steady guidance, leadership, commitment and service will be greatly missed as well as his vast historical and institutional knowledge of the Lakewood Recreation Department. After serving with us for over 30 years, it truly is the end of an era.

The Community Recreation and Education Commission is an advisory commission whose members are appointed by the Lakewood Board of Education. With the help of two standing sub commissions, the Youth Athletic Commission, and the Adult Athletic Commission, it is responsible for providing input and oversight to the Lakewood Community Recreation and Education Department.

The ideal candidate will have expertise, or experience in the areas of recreation, education, program development/participation and community outreach.  Monthly meetings, subcommittee work, as well as participation in community events, are among the time requirements.

Individuals who are interested in promoting the mission of the Community Recreation and Education Commission with passion and pride should submit a letter of interest and a statement of qualifications to Ms. Leslie Favre Krogman, Coordinator of Community Recreation & Education/Operations by June 30.

The Community Recreation and Education Commission will evaluate all applicants and make a formal recommendation to the Board of Education by August 1.
