The Living Miracles And Future Directions Open House

The Living Miracles Peer Empowerment Center and Future Directions, C.O.S. moved into their new location at 2070 West 117th Street in Lakewood in December 2017. The building is the former home of the Mormon church, just across West 117th Street and south of the RTA rapid station. The two mental health organizations will be hosting an open house at the newly renovated space on March 29th, 2018, from 2pm-4pm.

The Living Miracles is a non-profit organization that serves people struggling with a mental health or addiction disorder. It is a safe, judgement-free environment where adults with a mental health or addiction challenge can feel welcome, meet others with similar struggles and receive education and support from their peers. The Living Miracles offers discussion and education groups which cover such topics as symptom management, life skills, relationships and wellness, as well as a variety of recreational activities, including art, journaling, drama groups and baking classes.

The agency has been in existence on Cleveland’s west side since 1999. It is a “peer-operated service,” meaning the staff, as well as the administration, have experienced mental health difficulties. This peer model ensures that the members of the organization are understood and empathized with, as the staff have “been there” too.

Future Directions, a drop-in center focusing on art and craft projects and socialization, is located on the first floor of the building. Future Directions is also a peer-run center and utilizes a drop–in model.

If you have an interest in mental health or addiction recovery, or just want to explore mental health and addiction peer resources available in Lakewood, please join us and see what we are all about! The event is free of charge.
