Cox Business Signs On As 2018 Sponsor Of StartUp Lakewood

In what promises to be an exciting year for StartUp Lakewood, Cox Business has signed on as an official sponsor of the 2018 program. With numerous startups among its local client base and a vibrant entrepreneurial community in its backyard, supporting StartUp Lakewood was a natural fit for a company like Cox Business.

StartUp Lakewood is a dynamic engine for business creation, and a comfortable place for entrepreneurs to share ideas. Businesses such as Little Lakewood Pasta Company, PlayGrounds, GoodKind Coffee, and Nosotros were born out of the Startup Lakewood program and many others are poised to become the next entrepreneurial success story in metro Cleveland.

“Our community relies on the garage inventor, the side hustle millennial and everyone in between who takes a chance on launching a new venture,” said Rob Brill, market vice president for Cox Communications. “We’re proud to support StartUp Lakewood and applaud their efforts to usher in the next generation of Cleveland’s vibrant innovation economy.”

The organization recently announced its new Entrepreneur-in-Residence for 2018. Front Porch Media Network CEO Michael DeAloia, who previously served as the city of Cleveland’s "Tech Czar," will oversee the launch of a new incubator space. Expected to open in May, the incubator will give startups access to DeAloia's counsel, as well as office amenities such as a conference room, printing facilities and internet access. The goal of the incubator is to create jobs in Lakewood by partnering with businesses and community organizations to support and launch local startups.

“What makes this so innovative is we’re launching this incubator with LaunchHouse, a co-working community that will create a new location in Lakewood,” said DeAloia. “It’s a provocative idea for a city like ours, and will provide additional resources to support its thriving startup economy. We’re grateful to companies like Cox Business for their support.”
