This Land is Your Land: Family Storytimes About Diversity

The final session of "This Land is Your Land: Family Storytimes about Diversity" will be coming up on July 15th, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. The series will conclude with a storytime about poverty and economic justice, an issue that effects over 16 million American children today. The issue, then, is best tackled with books about children, but in a way that humanizes the issue and creates empathy. After all, if 1 in 5 children in this country experiences hunger, then poverty is a very real issue facing young people today. Songs, videos and a craft will round out the storytime, along with a discussion on how children and families can help those experiencing poverty. "Overcoming poverty is not a task of charity, it is an act of justice." - Nelson Mandela
