LHS 1st Day For New Students Only

Lakewood High School is excited to introduce a new Fresh Start orientation for the 2019-2020 school year! The first day of school on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 will be dedicated to freshmen and other new students to Lakewood High. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors will report for their first day on Wednesday, August 21, 2019.

The LHS team is looking forward to introducing this new format of Fresh Start by dedicating an entire school day for our freshman and new students to begin their LHS experience. The day will start with check-in promptly at 7:45 a.m.  Students will enter through Door 32, which is located next to the Ranger Shop off Franklin Boulevard. Check-in will conclude by 8:15 a.m. at which time the students will move to the Civic Auditorium to begin our day’s activities.

Over the course of Fresh Start, students will be introduced to topics such as student code of conduct, dress code, student expectations, safety, and extracurricular activities. Additionally, students will be given the opportunity to walk through their individual schedule in order to meet LHS teachers and be prepared for the first day of school with all students. Time will also be allotted for students to access their lockers and practice their locker combinations.

All students will eat lunch from 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Students may bring their lunch or hot lunch service will operate as normal.

All LHS staff members will be on hand during the course of the day and will be participating in activities with the students. The day will end with a pep rally where freshman and new students can take part in games and activities and also hear from Superintendent Barnes.

An orientation for parents will be held on Monday, August 19, 2019 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the LHS cafeteria. We encourage all parents of freshman and new students to attend this event as important information will be covered. No RSVP is required.

We feel that this new format of Fresh Start will provide freshman and new students with a chance to have a smooth transition to Lakewood High School. This day will be focused around the importance of involvement from both staff and student, being a good citizen of the LHS community, and fostering Ranger Pride.

If you have any questions, please contact House 1 Principal Tony Chiaravalle at tony.chiaravalle@lakewoodcityschools.org.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you and your student in August!
