Ranger Marching Band Festival Sept. 21

The pageantry, precision and rousing music that goes along with high school marching bands will be on display at the 33rd annual Lakewood High School Ranger Marching Band Festival set for Saturday, September 21 at First Federal Lakewood Stadium.

The Parade of Bands begins at 6 pm, followed by on-field performances by each band starting at 6:30 pm. The Ranger Marching Band, led by director Clinton Steinbrunner and assistant director John Blasko, will be joined at the festival by bands from Berkshire (Burton), Brush (South Euclid/Lyndhurst), Garfield Heights, Margaretta (Castalia), and Riverside (Painesville) high schools. The Bowling Green State University Marching Falcon Band will also perform.

The festival, with its toe-tapping music and marching moves, is a great family event. Tickets are $9 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for students, and free for children 5 and under.

This is the band’s largest fundraiser of the year so please come out and give your support. There will be concessions and a chance to win cash in the 50/50 raffle.

Another great marching band event coming in September is the Alumni Ranger Marching Band Night, to be held on Friday, Sept. 27 at the Ranger Homecoming Game versus North Olmsted. The alumni will combine with the current band for an exciting halftime finale performance of “Dancing Queen” by ABBA. There will also be a special reunion Homecoming Weekend for the 40th anniversary of the Ranger Marching Band's trip to England. The group will gather for a brunch at Deagan's on Sept. 28 from 10 am - noon.

Any alumni interested in participating can contact Sean DiRenzo group at 216-570-3019 or email lhsarmb@yahoo.com.
