Books, Cats, And A Book About Cats

Illustrator David Mottram

Some extra special guests are coming to the Lakewood Public Library this month. We are thrilled to welcome illustrator Dave Mottram as well as representatives from Tails from the City cat rescue.

Mottram is the illustrator of 11 picture book titles. His whimsical illustrations range from cartoonish to a classic, almost retro style and are fun, funny, colorful and wholesome. The Ohio-based artist will be joining us to talk about his life as an illustrator, his creative process, and will share his newest illustrated work "The New Kitten," authored by Joyce Carol Oates. This sweet story tells the tale of a beloved pet, accustomed to being the center of attention, forced to finally share the spotlight with a playful newcomer.

Along with Mottram we will be hosting representatives from Tails from the City: a local non-profit, no-kill volunteer run cat rescue, who will talk about cats, Tails’ mission, and why adopting a rescue is a responsible way to bring a new pet into your family. Tails from the City will be bringing along some of their current residents: adoptable cats and kittens for you to meet, pet, and maybe fall in love with. They will also be accepting donations on site to aid the shelter’s mission. You can learn more about the rescue or make a donation through their website at tailsfromthecitycleveland.org.

This Meet the Illustrator plus rescue awareness event is happening on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Lakewood Public Library Multipurpose Room. No registration is needed, and all ages (adults included) are welcome to attend and meet a great artist, support a great cause, and pet some great kitties.
