Lakewood Mom Competes at National Figure Competition

Lakewood mother of three, Liz Donnelly Guscott, recently competed in the National Physique Competition, a feat which typically requires several months of training. According to Guscott, “during a figure competition, the athlete is judged by a panel of experts on her overall physique, presentation, [and] muscular development, to name a few criteria.”

"It was a no-brainer to compete. I live a mile away from the venue and have always wanted to experience a competition like this," said Guscott. The 2008 NPC Natural Northern USA Drug Tested Bodybuilding and Figure Championships occurred at the Lakewood High School Civic Auditorium and drew hundreds of spectators from all over the surrounding states on Saturday, October 4, 2008. The show provides proceeds to the American Cancer Society and raised $1,700 from this past October 4th.

Guscott has been a personal trainer for seven years and wants to inspire others to exceed their expectations. She cautions that competing is not for everyone; however, proper eating and activity are, and they can do wonders to build confidence and overall wellness.
