Parade Kicks off Homecoming Weekend

Postby Edward Favre » Sat Sep 21, 2019 5:38 am

From senior Colin Sabo: Communities nationwide use Homecoming Weekend as a time to celebrate the return of their former students. Lakewood is no exception. On Friday, September 27, Lakewood High will honor its graduates with thrilling high school football game and a beautiful Homecoming parade, sure to remind the Lakewood alumni of what makes this community such a great place to call home.

The celebrations will begin with the Homecoming or Spirit Parade, showcasing the many sports, organizations, and clubs that make Lakewood so diverse. Included in the parade will be members of each high school class, elementary and middle school clubs, and the Lakewood Board of Education. Leading the way all the while will be the loud and proud Ranger Marching Band, whose unrivaled spirit and enthusiasm will light up the Lakewood streets. Lakewood High Fall sports teams, such as the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams, the red hot tennis team, and the former conference champion cross country team, will also be on display.

The parade begins at 5:30 p.m. at Lakewood Park and all are welcome to come out and support our wonderful community. The route will head east on Clifton Boulevard, turn south onto Bunts towards Lakewood High School, and head west on Franklin to finish at the North Lot of the high school.

After the parade comes the much anticipated Homecoming football game. During pregame, the 2019 Homecoming Court, including the King and Queen, along with their parents will be recognized. Finally, at 7:00 pm, our very own Lakewood Ranger football team will kick off its Homecoming battle against the North Olmsted Eagles. Tickets at the gates will be $7, and we hope to pack the stands with purple and gold in support of our Rangers. From the Lakewood High School students and staff, we can’t wait to see you there, and GO RANGERS!
