H2O's partnership with Cuyahoga Valley National Park was honored by receiving the Midwest Region 2019 George and Helen Hartzog Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service - Youth Group Category. This award recognizes exemplary contributions to the National Park Service. Over the past eight summers, H2O volunteers have assisted park staff in clearing over 2.2 acres of invasive plants near the Lock 39 Trailhead parking lot, creating a safer parking area and clearing access to the Cuyahoga River for a future kayak access point. Camper volunteers have the satisfaction of seeing the tangible results of their work and knowing that they have improved the area for future use. Congratulations to H2O and Coordinator Emmie Hutchison and Assistant Coordinator Amy Chodzin and their wonderful student volunteers!
