I'd love to see this presented with a graph. As with most numbers, context is everything.

Hey, Dan, I'd like to see a graph of the IQs of the members of the Ohio legislature. You know, those pro-CVD19 guys, trying to pass legislation to encourage vaccination resistance.

Are they nuts?

Note: They changed how they report "% Positivity" and "New Hospital Admissions," and lost "Case Rate per 100k."
(And how did % of population fully vaccinated go down?)

I expect there will be a sharp uptick in positives over the holidays because of all the additional testing. We got home-tested for the first time in preparation for getting together on Christmas day. All seven people were negative, but would have ended up reporting if positive, if nothing else, to get a better test. It felt good to get together under those conditions. The testing and positives increase will continue as Biden's half-billion tests become more available.

I note that Dan O'Malley was reported as testing positive. I hope his experience of COVID is mild and he recovers quickly.

Don--I am looking at these statistics-- deaths to be precise. Is it correct that deaths have gone from low single digits several weeks ago to triple digits?

Stan

That would appear to be true, and most of it is on the back of the Omicron variant.

Which is not as deadly, well if you are vaccinated and healthy.

Looking at other countries, we are in for a dark 4-6 weeks.

Then, better times until...

Stan,
I noted on Dec. 25th that there were changes in the data reporting. The source of the data I've been using is https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker (then "Your Community" and "County View").
But the link that day show up differently (ending in unty=39035 vs _metro=all). Something didn't feel quite right, but I just copied the numbers and put the note at the bottom of the post.

On further investigation today after your concern, I went back to the CDC website that I cited and scrolled down to "Data Type:" and found these numbers for Cuyahoga County, Cases=20,023, Deaths=44.
I don't know why there's a discrepancy within the CDC data on the same page, but these numbers seem more realistic. Thanks for your input. The thought of 500 deaths in a week in our county is horrifying.
