Lakewood Schools Spirit Parade 2021

Postby Jim O'Bryan » Fri Sep 24, 2021 8:39 pm

This afternoon was one of Lakewood's favorite parades, the Lakewood Schools Spirit Parade and Homecoming.

This wonderful slice of mid-western Americana allows the students of Lakewood Public Schools, and various school groups to parade through the city. Starting at Lakewood Park they head south to State Route 20 and turn east. This of course happens during rush hour on a Friday afternoon. State Route 20 aka Clifton Blvd. runs from Boston, Massachusetts through Yellowstone Park and on to Newport, Oregon. The longest road in America though not continuous.

Traffic backs up as the kids parade past, everyone loves it. Then south again on Bunts, over and closing State Route 6 which runs between Provencetown, Massachusetts to Long Beach, California. Where more people coming home from work join in the parade honking horns and having fun. The parade just skirts the edge of DowntowN Lakewood while heading south to the First Federal of Lakewood's High School Stadium, for the Homecoming Game and dance.

Here are some of the 100+ photos of the parade, enjoy we enjoyed taking them. Video at the end.
