The phone range and longtime friend Bill Hixson was calling. He wondered if I would be free for lunch, and if I was, "come on down."

I hopped in the car, and went down. I see Bill often, but rarely do I get a chance to sit down to talk with him. He has been solid Lakewood history, since he bought his building at 14125 Detroit Avenue from my uncle.

We got caught up and I have to say at 93 he looks better than ever, and was dressed pretty sharply.

Eunice, Bill's long time partner, was not there, but she is doing well, and comes in when she wants.

With that pizza was served. I have to tell you, he is an impressive 93-year-old, powered back a couple slices of pizza, with pepperoni, peppers, onions, ham and extra cheese.

We talked about various subjects, including the design of this year's Christmas ornaments, and if they would even get here on time. "You know, the shipments always come in during October, this year promising around Thanksgiving, and that is cutting it close." We then went on to talk about the ships backed up in LA and New York, and then he went into the pans and designs for 2022, 2023, and on. Just an amazing discussion with Mr. Christmas.

He then went on to show me a 9-11 ornament. "We had hundreds, they sold out in days. We only have a couple dozen left they will not make it to the end of October, and I doubt I can get them back in time."

We then spoke of taxes, schools, life in Lakewood and then wiped our faces and he went back to work, and I checked out the Christmas supply in the back. No worry Bill still has tens of thousands of Christmas ornaments, and a whole lot more.

Thanks for lunch.
